2026 ILT Mom Honoree
Sheena Emilcar
Hello everyone, my name is Sheena Emilcar, and I am a patient advocate for Cooper University Health Care. I was diagnosed in September 2024 after finding a lump just one day after my son’s fifth birthday. Hearing the diagnosis was heartbreaking. My biggest fear was my son growing up without his mother.
Cancer has deeply impacted my family. I’ve lost many loved ones to this disease, including my father, and my mother has been living with multiple myeloma for the past ten years. Becoming a cancer survivor has changed my life in ways I never imagined. I am now much more aware of my health both mentally and physically and I’m more intentional about how I spend my time, focusing on what truly matters.
I’ve always been a very private person and never wanted to share my burdens with others. However, Inspiring Life supported me throughout my journey and gave me a sense of sisterhood. Being surrounded by women who truly understood my emotions showed me that vulnerability is not a weakness or a burden, it’s a source of strength.
